Policemen across the city will wear a black badge in protest against the “assault” of police personnel by advocates on the City Civil Court premises last Friday.

This follows repeated protests by media persons and advocates, including a one-day boycott of court events across the State by the advocates.

Action demanded

This is a fresh turn of events in the confrontation in which the police and the media are pitted against advocates.

Demanding stringent action against the advocates, who allegedly went berserk on March 2, the Karnataka State Police Association (KSPA) here on Thursday announced that the police would stage a black badge protest on Friday.

“Seeking action against the lawyers who assaulted the police, the KSPA and the police personnel will stage a black badge protest on Friday,” a release, signed by KSPA's president N. Nagaraju said on Thursday.

Advocates are filing false cases against the police and also attempting to put pressure on the Chief Justice of the High Court, the release said.
