The President will inaugurate the Congress The venue is the NIMHANS Convention Centre

BANGALORE: The State police, in association with the Bureau of Police Research and Development, will organise the 37th All-India Police Science Congress here from June 6 to June 9. President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will inaugurate the Congress and deliver the keynote address. Home Minister Shivraj Patil will participate in the valedictory function.

Director-General and Inspector-General of Police B.S. Sial told presspersons here on Saturday the Congress would discuss ways of making the police more professional and people friendly. The Congress, Mr. Sial said, was being organised here after 18 years. About 80 delegateswould participate. Fifteen papers would be presented, he added.

Mr. Sial said experts would speak on "DNA finger printing", "Digital evidence", "e-governance" and "Cyber crime". A report on deliberations at the Congress would be sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

During the Congress, an exhibition on forensic techniques and traffic management systems would be organised. It would be open to the public, he added.

A souvenir would be released at the Congress, which would be held at the Convention Centre at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences on Hosur Road.
