In a late night operation on Sunday, the Organised Crime Wing personnel, attached to the Central Crime Branch, arrested six persons who allegedly planned to rob and kill a businessman.

The police said the gang planned to kill a Hindustan Unilever Limited distributor near Byatarayanapura.

Recovered

The police recovered a car, a motorcycle, iron rods, knives, wooden logs and mobile phones from the suspects.

The names of the arrested men were given as T. Arun Kumar, K. Kantharaju (24), P. Vasu (24), R. Manjunatha (22), S. Srikanta Prasadi (33) and D. Karthikeyan (28).

Routine

The police said that the distributor used to transport the entire week's collection on Sunday night and the gang planned to kill him and take away the cash.

The accused, Arun Kumar, a former Hindustan Unilever employee, was sacked for his anti-social activities and in retaliation, he hatched the murderous plan, the police said and added that he was familiar with the distributor's routine.
