The Byatarayanapura police claimed to have solved the February 4 murder of Prasanna Kumar, a real estate commission agent, with the arrest of three men here on May 15.

Police Commissioner B.G. Jyothi Prakash Mirji announced the arrests at a press conference here on Friday. The suspects are Basavaraja alias Basava (28), Subrahmani alias Subba (28) and Manjunatha alias Manja alias Haal Manja. All are residents of Garvebavipalya.

Prasanna Kumar was a middleman for those coming to the Bangalore Development Authority.

He was in love with Basava's girlfriend.

The three arrested allegedly strangled him and stole jewellery worth Rs. 3 lakh from his house. Before making their getaway, they spread chilli powder at the crime scene to keep away sniffer dogs.

Robbery

M. Muniyappa, an activist of a cine actor's fans' association, was robbed of his gold ornaments worth Rs. 3 lakh. The robbery was committed allegedly by an armed motorbike-borne duo on Rojgar Road in Doddakempaiah Layout near Marappa Layout here Thursday at around 7.45 p.m., the Rajarajeshwarinagar police said.
