The Panaji office of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) will be organising the 11th Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign at Honda, Poriem, and Keri areas of Sattari taluk in north Goa on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

“The endeavour is to disseminate information and to create awareness about various Union Government schemes being implemented for the common people in Goa,” said Dias Ermelinda Maria, Director, PIB, Panaji here on Thursday.

Ms. Dias said that PIB, Panaji, had conducted 10 such campaigns across the State so far.

Resource persons, particularly engaged in implementing the Union Government schemes, would be invited to brief the audience on these schemes, she said.

G. Surendra Babu, Assistant Director, PIB, said that in the last 10 years the structure of Union Government schemes had changed drastically. Most schemes such as the Right to Education or Employment Guarantee Scheme were not just schemes, they were statutorily governed. “The benefits under the scheme are based on demand and need. The statutory status has revolutionised these schemes. What has revolutionised the implementation of these schemes is the implementation of the Right to Information Act, particularly in rural areas,” he said.

A cultural programme by the Song and Drama Division will be held on all three days after the technical sessions.

Directorate of Field Publicity, Maharashtra, and Goa, will organise a rally at Honda on Friday to create awareness about Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign. They will organise various publicity programmes and film shows for self-help groups, students, and people from the neighbouring villages.
