It seeks legal action against sene

Udupi: The district unit of the Popular Front of India (PFI) on Friday demanded immediate arrest of the Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Muthalik and his followers in the wake of the expose on TV allegedly showing him agreeing to organise a riot.

In a press release issued here, the PFI stated that the open claims of some of the sene leaders in the exposé that they could cause damage to life and property were shocking. The alleged link of the sene with the underworld was deplorable. The sene had so far taken the people for a ride with tall claims of protecting “Hindutva” and “culture”.

The exposé had brought to light the true colours of the sene. It had shown that some of the sene leaders were prepared to aggravate communal passions for money. The Government should arrest Mr. Muthalik and other leaders of the seneand initiate immediate legal action against them.

The PFI would take out a jatha here and stage a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office. Many other progressive organisations would be taking part in the jatha and the dharna, the release said.
