Devotees flocked to temples to offer prayers

MYSORE: Devotees flocked to temples in the city on Monday to offer prayers on the occasion of Vaikunta Ekadashi.

Hundreds of devotees stood in long queues at the famous Sri Lakshmi Venkataramanaswamy temple in Vontikoppal here for a darshan of Sri Venkateshwara.

The “Vaikunta Dwara” was opened after the priests performed various rituals at the temple.

The shrine was specially decorated with a variety of flowers to mark the occasion. Special rituals were performed at the Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Ashram and a grand rathotsava carrying the idol of Sri Venkateshwara was taken out in a procession. Special pujas were performed at the Datta Venkateshwara temple as well as at the Dattatreya temple on the ashram premises since morning.

Vaikunta Ekadashi was also celebrated at the ISKCON temple in Jayanagar.

A “Vaikunta Dwara” was established at the northern entrance of the temple and devotees were seen trooping in since early morning.
