Volunteers with the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike’s Forest Cell on Thursday rescued a peacock wandering in the residential area of Seshadripuram.

Residents of the neighbourhood informed the BBMP’s Forest Cell that a peacock had been spotted in the area behind the Seshadripuram PU College, but it took volunteers a couple of days before they could rescue the bird.

Sharath Babu, Chief Warden of the Forest Cell, said the bird may have been kept as a pet, and had escaped from captivity. A tag was said to have been found around its neck. The peacock has been shifted to the Bannerghatta Rescue Centre.
