Five Class 9 students who ran away from their homes were traced on Monday by the Jnanabharati police after their worried families called the police. The five, students of a private school in Bangalore, had run away from their homes near Goruguntepalya on Saturday. Luckily, they were traced through their phone calls and were travelling to Pavagada in Tumkur when they were located. Scores of missing complaints are lodged every month: some run away and some are trafficked. This week’s Public Eye looks at what it takes for a child to run away and how he is tracked by the police, NGOs and concerned individuals.
