French Consulate official Pascal Mazurier, accused of raping his daughter, now four years old, filed an application before the Family Court here to permit him and his parents to visit his three children.

His wife, Suja Jones, had earlier secured an order from the Family Court restraining him from meeting their daughter and two sons.

On December 23 last year, Mr. Mazurier had met Additional Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) T. Suneel Kumar and requested that he be allowed to meet his children as he and his mother wished to greet them for Christmas and give them gifts.

The Frenchman is being supported in his efforts by the non-governmental organisation, Children’s Rights Initiative for Shared Parenting (CRISP) while his petition seeking quashing of the case is still pending before the High Court.

Mr. Mazurier, an attaché at the Consulate General of France here, was arrested on June 19 last year after Ms. Jones alleged that he had raped their three-and-a-half-year-old daughter. He was charge-sheeted on September 17 under Section 376 of IPC.

The High Court had on October 17 granted him conditional bail observing that the circumstantial evidence did not specify he had committed the offence. — PTI
