A park that developed in memory of Murari Sriramulu, a renowned personality here, will be inaugurated in the first week of August by Kamala Murari, wife of the late Sriramulu and former MLA, according to B.S. Anand Singh, Vijayanagar MLA. Mr. Singh was speaking to presspersons on Tuesday after reviewing the progress of work at the park. According to him, the late Sriramulu had taken a lot of initiative for the development of Hospet and, hence, the park was being named after him.

The park, on two acres of land, is located on Station Road. It has been developed by the City Municipal Council at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.25 crore.

Mr. Singh said that the bhoomi puja for the construction of a new bus-stand and a government degree college would also be performed during the first week of August.

The MLA reviewed the progress of various other development projects, including the construction of underground drainage system, and interacted with the people in a few wards.

Municipal president Amjad and councillors S. Chandrababu, Somappa and Mansoor, were among those present.
