The Parents and Teachers Council of Navodaya Vidyalaya at Mavinakere near here, on Thursday, came out in support of school staff who have been staging a protest since February 8. They are demanding coverage under a pension scheme.

The protesters marched to the office of the Deputy Commissioner.

The parents demanded that the Union government agree to the teachers’ demands soon so that students would not be affected.

The Navodaya school teachers have been demanding a pension scheme for them as per the Central Civil Service Pension Rules 1972, appointment of hostel wardens, a rational transfer policy and recruitment of group D employees.
