NO RESPONSE:Members of the Parashurampur Taluk Horata Samiti staging a dharna outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Chitradurga on Friday.

Members of the Parashurampur Taluk Horata Samiti who have been staging dharna outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office here for the past week ended it on Friday and decided to sit in dharna outside Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar’s residence in Bangalore.

The residents have been urging the State government to declare Parashurampur a taluk.

As there was no response from any of the elected representatives or officers, it had been decided to shift the agitation to Bangalore, leaders of the samiti said.

The former zilla panchayat president T. Ravikumar, who is leading the agitation, said that the State government had not declared Parashurampur a taluk despite many committees formed to look into this issue having submitted favourable reports in this regard.

Even the Chief Minister had promised to take a favourable decision when residents and samiti members submitted a memorandum to him in Bangalore a month ago.
