Bangalore Film Society and National Gallery of Modern Arts (NGMA) are hosting a preview of Papilio Buddha by Jayan K. Cherian on Sunday at 11 a.m.
It will be followed by a discussion with the team behind the film.
The film is about a group of displaced untouchables in the Western Ghats, who embraces Buddhism to escape from caste oppression. Their new identity and political awakening based on Ambedkarism are being explored in the backdrop of the ongoing land struggle. The film shows the experiences of Sankaran, a Dalit youth, who is indifferent to the plight of his own people.
The film that bagged two Kerala State Film Awards 2013 will be screened at NGMA, Manikyavelu Mansion, 49, Palace Road, Bangalore 560052.
