MANGALORE: Pope Benedict XVI has honoured city-based advocate Clarence Pais by inducting him into the “Order of St. Gregory the Great”.

The “Knight of St. Gregory” is the highest honour accorded by the Pope to a laity (non-clergy). The last honour of this kind was conferred on F.X.D. Pinto, proprietor of the then flourishing tile industry, about 45 years ago, a press release here on Thursday stated.

Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore diocese, will conduct the investiture ceremony at Milagres Church here on Friday. — Staff Correspondent
