Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said in the Legislative Council on Wednesday that a high-level official committee, headed by Additional Chief Secretary, has been constituted to look into effective use of Suvarna Soudha, including shifting of some of the government offices.

Replying to a question by Veeranna Mattikatti of the Congress, Mr. Siddaramaiah said he had directed the Additional Chief Secretary to submit a report on the issue and shifting some government departments at the earliest. Leader of Opposition D.V. Sadananda Gowda agreed with Mr. Mattikatti. Minister for Public Works H.C. Mahadevappa said the government was spending Rs. 3 crore a year on maintenance of Suvarna Soudha, and it would be beneficial to make better use of the structure.
