Sirsi: The A.J. Sadashiva Commission, appointed by the State Government, met representatives of Scheduled Caste-run organisations and samitis of Uttara Kannada district at the Taluk Panchayat Hall on Tuesday to hear their pleas and look into the misuse and discrimination of different funds and facilities extended by the Government to Scheduled Castes.

Mr. Sadashiva, who addressed the leaders, said the commission was inspecting whether facilities were being disbursed equally among all the Scheduled Castes as per constitutional requirements. He added that the commission would seek suggestions and guidelines to reduce the gap in distribution and extension of facilities. The commission had sent different teams State-wide to collect information on the number of castes and their locations, different sub-sects among Scheduled Castes, etc. The team would visit Uttara Kannada soon, he said.
