He did not give any hint of his transfer to his colleagues

Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey was relieved of his post here on Wednesday evening and posted Managing Director of the Hubli Electricity Supply Company (Hescom) in Hubli.

V. Ponnuraj will be assuming charge as Deputy Commissioner of Shimoga on Friday.

Mr. Pandey, who did not attend office for the last two days, did not give any hint of his transfer to his colleagues till last evening.

Mr. Pandey was earlier posted as the Joint Secretary to Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and Mr. Ponnuraj was posted as his successor.

But the transfer order of Mr. Pandey was withdrawn quickly and he was continued in the same post.

There was speculation that Mr. Pandey would be posted as Managing Director of Hescom in Hubli and Mr. Ponnuraj was transferred from Daskhina Kannada to Shimoga.

However, Mr. Ponnuraj could not take charge as Mr. Pandey was retained as Shimoga Deputy Commissioner.

It was stated that Mr. Pandey, who was not inclined to continue as Deputy Commissioner of Shimoga, requested Mr. Yeddyurappa during his visit to Shikaripur on Wednesday seeking a change.

Mr. Pandey took over as Managing Director of the Hescom in Hubli on Thursday on “oral instruction” from the Chief Minister. He handed over charge of office in Shimoga to Additional Deputy Commissioner Srirangaiah.

Mr. Ponnuraj is likely to assume charge as Deputy Commissioner of Shimoga on Friday.
