'Ensure supply of gas cylinders for Akshara Dasoha'

CHAMARAJANAGAR: Chamarajanagar Zilla Panchayat president Mahadeva Shetty has instructed Chamarajanagar Taluk Panchayat and zilla panchayat officials to fully utilise the funds released by the Government, before March15.

He was presiding over the review meeting of the Karnataka Development Programme here on Thursday.

He instructed engineers of the district Public Works Department to develop roads to facilitate the plying of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation buses to the Bedaguli Estate area. He urged officials of the Department of Forests to permit road-widening in the area.

Mr. Shetty directed officials of the taluk panchayat to put up boards wherever schemes under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act were being implemented. Steps should be taken to issue job cards to those who were employed in schemes under the Act, he said.

He instructed the Regional Transport Officer to furnish details of the number of private buses plying in the district with and without permit. Mr. Shetty said that of the 157 private buses that operate in the district, permits had been issued only to 87.

He instructed the joint director of the district industries centre to ensure that farmers and beneficiaries did not have a problem in availing themselves of loans.

Panchayat chief executive officer Sundar Nayak instructed the Deputy Director of Public Instruction to supply gas cylinders for the smooth running of the Akshara Dasoha in schools in Hanur limits.

Panchayat vice-president Somanna, deputy secretary Shankar Raj and other district-level officials were present.
