The Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) has organised a two-day State conference on basic mechanical ventilation and paediatric emergency medicine course at Al-Ameen medical college from Saturday.
L.H. Bidari, State president, IAP, told presspersons on Thursday that the focus of the conference would be on empowering paediatric practitioners on the basics of paediatric critical care.
Over 40 experts and around 300 delegates from Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Bangalore were expected to deliver lecturers. A special session would be held on common diseases among children in the north Karnataka region. “We will submit a detailed report on the outcome of the conference to the government,” Dr. Bidari said. Minister for Water Resources, M.B. Patil will inaugurate the meet and Makbul Bagwan, MLA would be present.
He said the government would be urged to set up an autonomous hospital on the lines of NIMHANS and Kidwai Cancer hospital in Bijapur to provide treatment to the people of North Karnataka region.
