DHARWAD: Members of the women’s wing of the Hubli-Dharwad unit of the Congress staged a dharna here on Saturday demanding that the Padmapriya case be handed over to the Central Bureau Investigation (CBI).

The members, led by president of the wing and the former Deputy Mayor Razia Begum Sangolli, staged the dharna in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner and demanded that the case should be handed over to the CBI to facilitate an “impartial inquiry”.

The protesters charged that the BJP Government had failed to handle the case properly.

Addressing the protesters, Ms. Sangolli charged that the Home Minister and the Chief Minister were responsible for the death of Padmapriya. She said only CBI would bring out the truth behind the death of Padmapriya.

Later, the protesters submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
