It is being organised by D.Ed. colleges and DIET in Mysore

MYSORE: Students of Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) from across Mysore district arrived here on Tuesday to participate in a three-day NSS Youth Festival being held at the Dasara Exhibition Grounds.

The district-level festival has been jointly organised by D.Ed. colleges of the district and the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Mysore.

More than 1,000 students representing 30 D.Ed. colleges of the district are participating in the mela, which is called Yuvajanotsava.

Earlier, students clad in the uniform of their respective colleges took out a procession from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple.

Police Commissioner S. Parashivamurthy flagged off the rally. DIET principal Kemparaje Gowda was present.

Different roles

Girl students donned the roles of Bharatamathe, Onake Obavva, Kittur Rani Chennamma, Jhansi Rani Lakshmibai, Cauvery Matha during the procession which passed through various thoroughfares of the city before converging at the festival venue.

During the procession, the students carried placards with meaningful messages on environment and literacy. Folk artistes, who accompanied the procession, gave performances along the march, drawing the attention of passers-by. Mysore Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Vishwanath inaugurated the festival.
