The Hyderabad-Karnataka Liberation Front (HKLF), a conglomeration of several organisations and individuals, has planned to lay a siege to the Raichur City Municipal Council (CMC) on December 16, demanding legal action against those involved in the alleged irregularities in drawing a power line from a substation to two water supply projects.

Front convener Ambanna Arolikar told presspersons here on Monday that irregularities were found in the construction of the 14-km power line from a 110/11 kVA substation at Chikkasugur.

“Planning director of District Urban Development Cell Manjushree had investigated the issue and given a comprehensive report confirming misappropriation of Rs. 55 lakh. The report also recommended registering a police case. However, no action was taken by Deputy Commissioner (DC) S.N. Nagaraju,” Mr. Arolikar alleged.

Action sought

He also alleged that the Deputy Commissioner had not taken action against the Raichur CMC officials who were involved in misappropriation of funds reserved for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Raichur CMC.

“In his inquiry report dated January 21, 2013, Additional Director-General of Police, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement, had indicted three officers — former CMC Commissioner Tippesh, former assistant executive engineer Mallikarjun Gopshetty and junior engineer Sangamesh — and recommended criminal proceedings against them. However, the Deputy Commissioner has taken no action yet,” he alleged.

Strongly condemning the alleged remarks of deputy commissioner that the majority of the organisations in the district were the organisations of extortion, Mr. Arolikar challenged the DC to prove his words with substantial evidences.

“We are ready to undergo narcoanalysis, brain mapping and lie-detecting tests. We demand the DC and his officer to show their readiness for these tests. Let the truth come out as to who are corrupt,” he challenged.
