It will be launched in the twin cities in three days
Residents of the twin cities who pay property tax online will soon find a more user-friendly system as the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation is ready with an online calculator, which will be launched in three days.
Although the service was launched in the first week of April, some residents were not able to use it owing to technical reasons.
It was launched as an extension of the Hubli-Dharwad One facility and residents were given the choice of logging onto either www.hdmc.gov.in or www.karnatakaone.gov.in to pay property tax.
However, barring a few whose property tax details had been uploaded on the HDMC server, a majority of taxpayers had to calculate the property tax on their own and seek the help of HDMC employees at zonal offices.
Despite the cumbersome procedure, 27 residents paid the property tax online in the first month, but the number came down later.
Only 50 people have paid the tax using the service so far.
The HDMC Revenue Department and Management Information System wing has developed the system.
Joint Commissioner Virendra Kundagol told The Hindu that users would be given hints on where to find the property ID number and how to use the calculator.
“We have given separate links for open land and built property. As they enter the property details, number of floors and other details in the specified columns, the online calculator will give them the final tax amount to be paid,” he said.
Mr. Kundagol said that the residents could make the payment for the final tax amount giving their PID number.
He said the solid waste management cess would be included in the final tax amount, but the residents would have to click on the dropdown menu to select the payment on infrastructure cess for vehicles owned by them.
