The Kerala Samajam Dooravaninagar, Bangalore, will organise its annual Onam Chantha from September 5 to 8 at Jubilee School in Vijanapura, behind K.R. Puram Railway Station.
The chantha, or fair, which draws large crowds every year, will feature stalls put up by the Samajam to provide Onam specialities like banana (nenthrapazham or ethapazham), banana chips, sweet chips, halwa, pappadam, palada, vegetables for the feast and so on, all brought from Kerala and sold here for a nominal rate. Apart from the Samajam's stalls, a host of other agencies will also put their stalls to market a variety of other items.
The Samajam, which has been organising the chantha since 1984, will also celebrate Onam as usual on October 2 this year at ITI Vidyamandir Open Air Theatre. Prizes for winners of various competitions that are being held since July 31 will also be distributed on the occasion.
