A team of officials have detected mass copying at a graduate-level examination of the Kuvempu University’s distance education programme being held at Vidya Independent PU College here on Saturday.
Officials found three sacks of textbooks dumped in a toilet and candidates sitting on textbooks. On further checking, they found many chits in students’ pockets.
A majority of students were found talking among themselves and with invigilators.
Meanwhile, an officer deputed at the examination centre told officials that some invigilators had threatened him, when he asked them not to allow copying.
Deputy Commissioner P.C. Jaffer has written to the Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University to cancel the examination and file criminal cases against those involved in malpractices. He has also asked the university to conduct a re-exam in a fair manner, without giving room for such malpractices.
