As Mysore symbolises royalty, a group of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers dressed in their royal robes welcomed the participants at the State BJP Executive Committee meeting here on Wednesday. The participants who had come from across the State were given a traditional welcome complete with sandalwood garland.
BJP councillor Nandeesh Pritham, whose father H.S. Shankaralinge Gowda was disqualified from the Legislative Assembly recently, was looking after the arrangements and welcoming the dignitaries at the meeting. Mr. Pritham has remained in the party despite his father's revolt. He had made a futile bid to keep his father in the party fold at the time of the crisis.
Show of strength
In a show of strength, BJP workers took out a motorcycle rally from Mandakalli airport on Nanjangud Road to the venue of meeting, Rajendra Auditorium on Ramanuja Road, raising slogans in favour of their party leaders.
‘Act against MES'
Members of Kannada organisations met Mr. Yeddyurappa here and demanded that action be taken against Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti for its “anti-Kannada” stand. The members submitted memorandums to the Chief Minister in this regard. They expressed unhappiness over the Government's “silence” on the MES observing “black day” on November 1.
