MYSORE: Taking exception to a reported statement by former Prime Minister and president of Janata Dal (Secular) H.D. Deve Gowda that his party was still part of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the Centre, P. Kodandaramaiah, former MP, termed this "political blasphemy" as the Janata Dal (S) was leading the coalition Government with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the State. Addressing presspersons here on Saturday he said: "I have written to president of the All India Congress Committee Sonia Gandhi appealing to her to clarify that Mr. Gowda and his party are no longer part of the UPA."

He accused Mr. Gowda of confusing issues and misleading the public.
