Barack Obama’s re-election as U.S President was “neutral” as far as India was concerned, opined Chairman of Manipal Global Education Services T.V. Mohandas Pai, minutes after Mr. Obama emerged victorious. “He had earlier done a lot of Bangalore bashing, which created a lot of negativism. Then, the American economy was in a bad state. Now employment is up by 1.5 per cent.”

He added that he was personally happy that Obama has been re-elected, Mr. Pai, former Director (HR) of Infosys Ltd., stated. Mr. Pai hoped that Mr. Obama would improve immigration policies. “People are coming from Silicon Valley there to set up start-ups here. If immigration accelerates, he has his task cut out for him.”

While conceding that he appreciated him for “taking out Osama Bin Laden”, he said that Mr. Obama, in his first term, was “inward looking”. He hoped the President would be “outward looking” in this term. Hopefully, he is more generous with the rest of the world, especially with countries like Syria, he said.
