North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) will soon get a high-tech building to house its central office.
Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and district in-charge Jagadish Shettar performed bhoomi puja and laid the foundation stone for the building, which will come up on Gokul Road.
The Minister said Rs. 2.75 crore was being spent on the construction of the new building.
Speaking on the occasion, chairman of NWKRTC Mallikarjun Savakar said the new building would facilitate the functioning of administrative, traffic and technical wings of the transport corporation under one roof.
The new building would have commercial stalls on the ground floor, and construction was expected to be completed in a year, Mr. Savakar added. Pralhad Joshi, MP, and Virabhadrappa Halaharavi, MLA, were among those present.
