Nursing students took out an awareness rally here on Saturday to mark World Glaucoma Day.
The rally, organised by Vasan Eye Care, was flagged off by Virabhadrappa Halaharavi, MLA.
The MLA urged the students to offer their services in rural areas.
Ophthalmologist Ravi L. Nadiger said glaucoma caused irreversible damage to the eyes. “Many people won't know that they are suffering from glaucoma. The best method to prevent the disease from causing further damage is to undergo regular screening. Those with diabetes and high blood pressure should undergo frequent check-ups,” he advised.
