Awards to be presented on May 28 at Ravindra Kalakshetra

The day is the birth anniversary of the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao

Concert of Ghantasala's songs by Shiva Prasad to be organised on the occasion

BANGALORE: Theatre artiste Master Hirannaiah and National Award-winning actor Umashree have been chosen for this year's NTR Puraskar by the Karnataka Telugu Academy. The awards will be presented during the 88th birth anniversary celebrations of the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and actor N.T. Rama Rao on May 28 at the Ravindra Kalakshetra here.

Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, academy general secretary C.V. Srinivasaiah said that the award had been instituted by the academy in association with the NTR Fans' Association and other Telugu cultural organisations.

Over the past decade, 22 renowned personalities had been presented this award.

During the anniversary celebrations, playback singer A. Shiva Prasad will entertain the audience with the late Ghantasala's songs.

Minister for Medical Education Ramachandre Gowda, Kannada Development Authority chairman Mukhyamantri Chandru, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president Basant Kumar Patil and academy president A. Radhakrishna Raju are expected to participate in the function.


The academy will distribute free passes to those interested in attending the programme.
