Yeddyurappa inaugurates various projects at Jagalur
Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said on Saturday that his family members had returned the land granted to them through the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board and the Bangalore Development Authority to ensure that that he would not be put to unnecessary embarrassment. He said that his family members had returned the land not because they had been allotted illegally.
Speaking to presspersons at Jagalur, about 50 km from here, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that his family members were quick to understand the ulterior designs of national president of the Janata Dal (Secular) H.D. Deve Gowda and his sons. Hence, they returned the land though they had got them in all fairness. “Let all those who have grabbed land through illegal means emulate my family members,” he said.
Referring to the remarks of Home Minister R. Ashok about two days ago that the powers of the Chief Minister for denotification should be removed, Mr. Yeddyurappa said he (Mr. Yeddyurappa), along with many senior Ministers, were of the opinion that power to denotify land should be vested with a team of 10 senior officers of the Government. The Government was in the process of identifying these 10 officers. It would appoint a former Supreme Court judge to probe into the denotification of lands in the past 16 years, he said.
