‘Farmers in Haveri, Ranebennur were misguided’
Meeting today to chalk out distribution plan
DAVANGERE: Agriculture Minister S.A. Ravindranath has said that there is no scarcity of fertilizers and seeds in the State. He has said that the State had over three lakh tonnes of fertilizers in stock.
Talking to presspersons after laying the foundation stone for the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex here on Wednesday, Mr. Ravindranath appealed to farmers not to panic. He said that farmers would be provided fertilizers and seeds on time. In Haveri and Ranebennur, farmers who were misguided by miscreants had thronged fertilizer shops, he said.
Mr. Ravindranath said that he had convened a meeting of officials of the Agriculture Department in Bangalore on Thursday to chalk out a plan to distribute fertilizers and seeds.
Earlier, he launched work on the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, near Karur on the outskirts of Davangere. The Karnataka Housing Board will build the complex at a cost of Rs. 18 crore. Commissioner of the housing board M.B. Dyaberi said that the complex would be ready in 14 months. It would house offices of 38 departments, he said. Besides, office of the district in-charge Minister and that of the MP will be housed in the complex.
The ground floor of the complex will have offices of 14 departments, including the Deputy Commissioner’s office, and the other two floors will have 12 offices each.
An auditorium will also be constructed in the complex.
Davangere MP-elect G.M. Siddeshwar, Superintendent of Police Sandeep Patil, Chief Executive Officer of the Davangere Zilla Panchayat Guthi Jamboonath and Assistant Commissioner Janaki were present.
