Even as the Ramanagaram Police “detained and examined several suspects”, there has been no headway in the case relating to the murder of a priest in the Thalaghattapura police station limits on Sunday.

Unidentified assailants killed S. Sandeep (24), a priest of Shri Sankashta Hara Ganapathi temple on Ullal Main Road, over an alleged love affair at 1.10 a.m. on Sunday.

The incident occurred in front of his house at Jai Bhuvaneshwari Nagar near Gubbalalu village on Kanakapura Road.

The assailants also attacked Sandeep's parents – Shrungesh and Sarojamma – and sister S. Archana, causing grievous injuries, before escaping in a car.

The Ramanagaram district police are yet to arrest the culprits in connection with the murder and assault incidents.

“So far we have not arrested anyone. But, we have formed special teams and sent them to Kadapa, Tirupati and other places in Andhra Pradesh,” K. Ramakrishna, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Ramanagaram Sub-Division), told The Hindu .

Investigation

“Investigation is going on, and we have examined several people in connection with the incident,” Mr. Ramakrishna said.
