All-India Congress Committee general secretary Madhusudhan Mistry, in-charge of Karnataka, on Monday reiterated that there would not be a change of president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee. G. Parameshwara would continue as chief and the next Legislative Assembly elections would be held under his stewardship.

Referring to the statement of the KPCC treasurer and All-India Veerashaiva Mahasabha president Shamanur Shivashankarappa that the Lingayats would support the Congress if it appoints him as KPCC chief, Mr. Mistry said it was wrong of him to make such statements and that it amounts to anti-party activity.

He warned that suitable action would be taken at a suitable time.

But, he added that no notice would be issued to Mr. Shivashankarappa now. Mr. Parameshwara extended new year greetings to the people of the State.
