Corporation to extend assistance to the police

HUBLI: The Hubli-Dharwad Police on Wednesday launched a new scheme, “Nimma Odanaadi” (Your Companion), a mobile police unit, aimed at building a rapport between the general public and the Police Department.

Hubli-Dharwad Mayor Viranna Savadi flagged off the “Nimma Odanaadi” mobile police unit at the Kittur Channamma Circle. Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar, Deputy Commissioners of Police Chandiram Singh and Batagurki were present. Lauding the initiative of the Police Department, the Mayor said that the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation would extend assistance in streamlining the vehicular movement in the twin cities. He said that initial rounds of discussion had been held between the corporation and the Police Department with regard to earmarking parking lots in busy areas and also clearing encroachments on pavements.

Mr. Raghavendra Auradkar said that “Nimma Odanaadi” was being launched on an experimental basis to take the Police Department closer to the general public.

“The ‘Nimma Odanaadi’ team comprising a woman police constable, two police constables, a sub-inspector of police or an assistant sub-inspector of police will visit three beat points within a police station’s limits daily.
