Select your career options NOW, and make sure you have a ‘Plan B’. Work out your score from the OMR copy and answer keys. You need a minimum of 130 out of 180 to get a medical seat in the general merit category.

Select your options based on previous years’ cut-offs. You can go for a variance of plus or minus 10 to 20 per cent. For example, if your rank is 500, then do not choose colleges whose cut off ranks had been 150 last year. If a student chooses colleges which are not in her or his range, she or he will not be allotted a seat, the computer will not allot any seats.

Students should go for as many options as possible. There is no limit on the number of options.

Rank, category and choice (option) are taken into consideration when the computer allots seats after option entry.

The demand for BSc farm courses offered by agricultural universities is up after coming under the CET. From 5,000 applications last year, there are 23,000 this year.

The CET offers a subsidy on educational loans for students who secure seats through CET.

Students will need to pay a maximum of six per cent interest on the loan, and the rest will be borne by CET.
