Gulbarga ZP to now cover seven taluks
YADGIR: The State Government has through a notification announced creation of a new zilla panchayat for Yadgir district and reconstitution of the Gulbarga Zilla Panchayat with jurisdiction over seven taluks.
The Yadgir Zilla Panchayat will have 22 elected members. The Government has also notified reservation for the posts of president and vice-president of the Yadgir Zilla Panchayat. Both the posts have been reserved for general category. According to the notification, the Gulbarga Zilla Panchayat, having jurisdiction over Gulbarga, Jewargi, Aland, Afzalpur, Sedam, Chitapur and Chincholi taluks, will have 43 members.
There will be no change in the reservation for the posts of president and vice-president of the Gulbarga Zilla Panchayat. While the president’s post is reserved for Scheduled Tribe, the vice-president’s post is reserved for general category women.
Official sources said that Regional Commissioner Rajneesh Goel was likely to be appointed as the Administrator of the zilla panchayats till the election of president and vice-resident of the two panchayats. The dates of the election would be announced later, the sources added.
