As per the guidelines of the National Curriculum Framework for Teachers Education the process of designing the new syllabi for students of Class I to X was on, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri has said.

Speaking to presspersons here on Sunday, he said plans had been chalked out to ensure distribution of new textbooks for the academic year 2012-13.

Mr Kageri said that already suggestions from all the stakeholders including senior academicians had been sought for the designing the new syllabus and the services of experts for designing and writing the new textbooks were being employed.

He said the retirement age of teachers had been increased from 58 to 60 years and steps had been taken to ensure that recruitments were undertaken to fill vacancies as when there was requirement.
