: The North Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC) staff and employees affiliated to the Karnataka Rajya Raste Sarige Nowkarara Mahamandali demanded the immediate arrest of the autorickshaw drivers involved in the attack on drivers of the NEKRTC buses in Gulbarga on Friday, and registration of criminal cases against them immediately.

The staff and employees took out a procession in the city on Saturday raising slogans against the high-handed behaviour of autorickshaw drivers who not only caused hindrance to the operation of city service buses, but also intimidated drivers and conductors.

On Friday two drivers of the NEKRTC city services were attacked by autorickshaw drivers near Rashtrapati Chowk.

Attacks and intimidation of NEKRTC drivers by autorickshaw drivers had become a regular affair and the police and road transport authorities should take immediate measures to control autorickshaw drivers and ensure that they follow traffic regulations, they said. All autorickshaws should be parked only in specified parking lots.

Later, they submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police.
