Bangalore: A neighbour has been arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a four-year-old in Roshan Nagar near Byatarayanapura Wednesday evening.
The police said Sadik, the suspect, took the child to an isolated place before raping and killing her. The body was discovered by passers-by.
Kenneth John (35), a Nigerian national, was arrested at the premises of Benguluru International Airport (BIA) in Devanahallai after he allegedly attempted to fly abroad on a fake passport.
The accused, who was reportedly working in Mumbai, was detained by the emigration officials around 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday and later handed over to the International Airport Police Station.
The accused had stuck his photograph on the passport of another person. He reportedly told the police that he had obtained the forged passport from his friend, identified as David, in Mumbai.
A team has been formed to nab David, the officer said.
A spurned lover hanged himself at his home in Rajajinagar Fifth Block here on Tuesday.
Rajendra Singh (29), a native of Dharwad working in a reputed software company in International Tech Park (ITPL) near Whitefield, fell in love with his friend and became depressed after she reportedly refused to marry him.
Killed in accident
A 25-year-old autorickshaw driver died on the spot and his friend injured when their two-wheeler crashed into a pavement at Kathanagar near Jalahalli here Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as G. Gunashekar and the injured, C. Muthu (25), who was the rider.
Both are residents of B.K. Nagar, the Yeshwanthpur Traffic Police said.
The accident disrupted traffic for a while.
Materials worth several thousands of rupees were gutted in a fire at an agarbathi manufacturing unit off Tirumala Palace Road at Premnagar here on Wednesday.
