Raichur: The former Minister and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Raichur Lok Sabha constituency Raja Amareshwara Naik has said the achievements of the National Democratic Alliance Government and development programmes undertaken by the BJP Government in the State will improve his chances in the elections.

Addressing a “meet the press” programme organised by the Raichur Reporter’s Guild here on Sunday, Mr. Naik said that there was much development during the NDA Government’s regime and that the BJP Government in the State had been implementing many development programmes in the region. He said that the BJP’s position had improved in the Raichur Lok Sabha constituency. In recent years, the party had gained a hold in most of the Assembly segments. The growing strength of the party and the “development mantra” adopted by the BJP Government in the State would help him win the elections, he said.

To a question on what issues he would focus on, Mr. Naik said that there was a need to put pressure on the Centre to fulfil the demand to amend Article 371 of the Constitution. There was also a need to take up the issue of the pending implementation of the Munirabad-Mehboobnagar rail project with the Centre, he said.
