While steps taken by government agencies to promote Hubli-Dharwad as the next IT destination have yet to deliver the desired results, a management and IT institute from the city has taken the initiative to raise awareness through an IT Festival.
Addressing presspersons here on Friday, honorary chairman of Global Educare Foundation and chartered accountant N.A. Charantimath said that the Global College of Business Management and IT would host a two-day national-level IT fest, ‘Transvengers’ from March 3.
“On the first day itself, participants will be taken to the Software Technology Park of India (STPI) here, the Hubli airport and other places. Based on their visits and the information gathered, they will present this data before a gathering comprising IT entrepreneurs, IT teachers and others,” he said.
Participants will also make presentations in subsequent programmes held in their respective colleges, thus creating awareness about the features of the city, and motivate young entrepreneurs to invest in Hubli.
The management fest will provide technophiles the opportunity to showcase their skills in computing. BCA students from across the State and from Goa would participate, he added.
Management representative of the institute Riyaz Basari said that five events would be conducted as part of the IT festival. The overall champions would receive trophies and cash awards.
Principal of the college Mahesh Deshpande said leading IT professionals would participate in the fest as judges for various events.
A webcast of all the events of the festival will be available on www.globaleducare.org.
