KANNUR: The Kannur University Central Library and Research Centre here is organising a national seminar on ‘Media – human values and rights' on May 17.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Wednesday, university Pro Vice-Chancellor A.P. Kuttykrishnan said K. Sudhakaran, MP,

ould inaugurate the seminar at the Jawahar Library Auditorium at 10 a.m.

Rural Affairs Editor of The Hindu P. Sainath would deliver the keynote address on ‘Media and rural issues' at the inaugural session to be presided over by Vice-Chancellor Michael Tharakan.

A host of mediapersons and experts on media would speak in separate sessions on ‘Media ethics,' ‘New trends and its impact on media' and ‘Media and contemporary politics.'

Dr. Kuttykrishnan said the media was chosen as the subject of the seminar as people in the modern age was living in a reality constructed by the media.
