MYSORE: A four-day national conference on quality assurance (QA) of open and distance learning (ODL) institutions will be inaugurated in Mysore on Saturday.

IGNOU Vice-Chancellor V.N. Rajashekaran Pillai will inaugurate the conference and deliver inaugural address at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) here at 10.30 a.m. KSOU is hosting the conference. Open distance learning has been recognised as an effective system to promote quality education among a large segment of uncovered population, organisers said.

The meet will cover a wide range of issues related to quality assurance. Kaushik Mukherji, principal secretary (higher education), Government of Karnataka, will be the chief guest. KSOU Vice-Chancellor K. Sudha Rao will preside. R. Sreedhar, director, Commonwealth Educational Media Center for Asia, will be present.
