Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli, former Minister, announced here on Thursday that he would join the Karnataka Janata Paksha, headed by the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.
Mr. Nagamarapalli resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party last week.
At a meeting of friends and well-wishers at Mailoor, the 71-year-old leader said there were strong reasons behind his decision.
The KJP was growing across the State as it was secular and did not discriminate against minorities.
“Muslims are joining the party in large numbers,” he said.
The KJP would field candidates in all wards in the coming urban local body elections. He urged the youth to join politics.
Mr. Nagamarapalli was associated with the Janata Parivar and the Congress in the past.
