1,86,539 children will be covered in the first phase in the district
The district administration has set a target of administering polio drops to 2,12,626 children in Mysore district in the first phase of the nationwide campaign which was launched on Sunday.
A total of 1,585 immunisation centres, including 1,277 in towns and rural areas, and 308 centres in Mysore city, have been set up to administer polio drops to children below five years of age.
The campaign began with district in-charge Minister S.A. Ramdas administering polio drops at Tulsidas Hospital on JLB Road. Deputy Commissioner M.N. Ajay Nagabhushan, District Health Officer Male Gowda and other elected representatives were present. Volunteers were seen administering polio drops to children at the palace, zoo, Chamundi Hills, railway station and KSRTC mofussil bus-stand on Bangalore–Nilgiri Road. Mobile squads had been stationed at several places.
A total of 1,86,539 children in the district would be covered in the first phase.
About 6,340 paramedical staff and 315 supervisors had been roped in to assist for administering the drops.
A campaign was launched at the railway station by the Mysore Division of South Western Railway. The Mysore City Corporation had launched a drive too.
