Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) B. Dayanand said that emergency services personnel must be sensitised about preservation of an emergency crime scene.

“[It] is important for post-blast analysis and sometimes, owing to lack of awareness of the emergency personnel, valuable evidence is lost,” he said. Referring to the Malleswaram blast on April 17, Mr. Dayanand said: “As the personnel doused the fire, some material was washed away. The investigation team that arrived later could not immediately find any materials that caused the blast. There is a need to sensitise the personnel in preservation of such crime scenes.”
