Madikeri: Kodagu Small Growers’ Association office-bearers, on Monday, opposed the move of certain environmentalist groups in Kodagu, who they said, were pressurising the State Government to transfer the Kodagu Conservator of Forests, G.A. Sudarshan, on flimsy grounds.

Speaking to presspersons here, Nanda Subbaiah, the vice-president of the Kodagu Small Growers’ Association, said the environmentalist groups were against Mr. Sudarshan because he had not conceded to their requests. The other reason for them to seek Mr. Sudarshan’s transfer from Madikeri was because a top forest officer’s wife had written a report to the Government on the activities that environmentalists in the State are resorting to in the garb of conservation of flora and fauna, he said.
